As our sun scuttles across the sky, activating cancer energy, some things to remember:

  • A time to connect with feelings

  • Nurture ourselves, family, pets, friends, chosen family, co-workers, neighborhoods… you get it

  • Trust our intuition. She’s with us; use this season as a time to practice trusting ourselves radically.

Birthday wishes + Intentions

I’m a lil crabby baby, too! Born July 22, right at the end of Cancer season. My Sun sits at the very last degree in Cancer at 29 degrees (for the astro girlies). This year, I turn 43. I’ll be hiking in Norway and leading meditation on a group trip for the first time. I’m a mother, yogi, healing, a friend, traveler, and still mending a broken heart. I’m both parts expanding and unraveling; both parts rooted and restless; both parts longing and letting go. This might be the most my Self ( and I do mean self with a capital S) I’ve ever known. And she’s lovely, and smart, and good, and kind, and funny, and brave.

My intention for this newsletter is to provide some value to my readers, a way to ground and think about each of the astrological archetypes (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces) a place for me to practice my voice, expand my community and share what knowledge I have.

2025 is a year of major planetary transits, another way of saying some major planets will be entering new signs, and this is another way of saying change is afoot. A major shift this season is the planet Uranus entering Gemini. Uranus moves super slllllooooowwwww. The last time Uranus entered Gemini was 1941.

  • Gemini rules media, education, and all forms of messaging. Uranus is the bringer of breakthroughs in how we teach, learn, and share knowledge, as well as how we filter and understand information. Could we expect innovations like AI literacy movements? That would be cool!

  • Uranus is ‘The Rebel’; this energy is innovative, wild, busy, hectic, and brings many shifts and pulses that can feel chaotic to some and exhilarating to others. Make sure to anchor your attention during this time so that this energy can be generative, rather than fragmenting.

A Short Anchoring Practice

1. Feel Your Seat (10 seconds)
Let your awareness drop into your body.
Notice the support beneath you, the chair, the couch, the floor.
Notice your feet on the ground. Give those toes a wiggle.

2. Connect to Breath (20 seconds)
Bring attention to the breath, just as it is.
Feel one inhale and one exhale.
Nothing to change. Just noticing.

3. Notice where you are (20 seconds)
Open your eyes if they were closed.
Take a look around and find three objects around you
Name them silently: “flower vase...favorite pen ... chair.”
Allow this to connect you to the space you're in.

The Strawflower colors are known for not fading; even when dried, they will retain their bright colors. There is a lasting quality to both this flower and the connection to familial ancestry, roots, and home that can sometimes be alive for us during Cancer season.
